Located in the northwestern part of Connecticut in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, Mohawk Mountain has a long and interesting history. It was here in 1949 that Walt Schoenknecht invented snowmaking!

Tidbit: New for 2006, Mohawk Mountain's 4th grader program allows 4th grade students in Connecticut to apply to receive three free lift tickets for use any day during the season.

This family ski area is located closest to Hartford in the central part of the state. It's a great choice for snowboarders--the Boarder Alpine Park features tabletops, spines, rails and a big air jump, plus all ski trails are open to boarders.

Ski Sundown, located just west of Hartford County in the town of New Hartford, is a great place to learn to ski or board. It's also home in 2007 to the Connecticut Senior Winter Games.

Woodbury Ski Area in western Connecticut has the distinction of being the state's first ski area to open each season--it's guaranteed! A cross-country skiing area is located across the street, an eight-course, lift-serviced tubing hill is fun for the whole family, and the indoor and outdoor skate park, which is open year round, offers day and night skating. Woodbury is also Connecticut's only ski area with snow bikes.
