HIGHMOUNT, N.Y. – The buzz around Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in northwest Ulster County has never been greater. The state-owned resport will be breaking ground on a new base lodge that is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
Meanwhile, this is the first full season for Belleayre's new high speed detachable Super Chief quad ski lift that whisks skiers to the summit in five minutes. That's more than twice as fast as the lift it replaced. Belleayre's location in the Catskills offers visitors a variety of mountain villages, filled with bread and breakfasts and and inns, and a wide selection of restaurants and resorts, from family-style to four-star.
Belleayre also offers special promotions like Kids Ski Free and Stay Free at participating establishments, and midweek packages starting from $49 per day.
With 47 trails, parks and glades, Belleayre is home to the highest skiable peak and the longest skiable trail in the Catskills.
Located in a "snow hole" that creates localized weather, Belleayre boasts both the quality and amount of its snowfall.
Belleayre also has a wide variety of ski training rograms. Visitors have access to ar highly trained PSIA/AASI certified staff of instructors. Whether you're putting on equipment for the first time or mastering the moguls, Belleayre has an instructor to help you progress to the next level.
New this year is Freestyle Program to help skiers and riders take it to the next level in the moguls, the terrain park, and the half-pipe. From this program, Belleayre will field its first Freestyle Team that will participate in region freestyle competitions!
Belleayre offers a Customer Appreciation Day every month when lift tickets are $15. In addition, during its Winter Festival Week from Jan. 28- Feb. 1, Belleayre will offer $10 lift tickets.
